Danny began his playing career at East Leeds aged 6 for the U9’s out on the wing where he showed early promise with his now infamous speed. 7 years later Danny signed his first professional contract with the Leeds Rhinos. Although he was snapped up early by the Rhinos he had to wait 5 years – aged 18 for his professional debut against Salford in 2001. Since making his debut Danny has pushed for success in every way possible and lists his heroes as Ellery Hanley and Gary Schofield as influential on his style of play and drive.

Danny has had a very successful career to date with him listing the 5 Super League grand finals he has won and the 2 World Club Challenge victories as his particular highlights. This year should see Danny surpass Keith Senior’s try scoring record making him Super League’s all time highest try scorer.

Although Danny has experienced one of the most successful careers in Super League he has also had to deal with lows. The worst of which was his injury in 2010 which, resulted in him having to learn how to walk and run again. He also lists missing out on last year’s Four Nations as disappointing but hopes to reignite his international career in what will hopefully be a very memorable testimonial year.
